How does career coaching work?

I will work with you twice or three times per month to guide you through inquiry, reflection, assessments and exercises designed to help increase your self-awareness and knowledge of the career options available to you. Together we will explore how to achieve the professional goals you most want to achieve and will discover the obstacles that currently hinder your progress. Our work is confidential and you determine the pace. It is also an equal partnership and I only engage with those who are ready and willing to do the work.

What are competencies?

Competencies are the combination of knowledge, skills and abilities that are unique to you. They are based not only on your experience, but on your strongest personal characteristics and values as well.

Is it too late for a career transition?

It's never too late for a career transition! My favorite story is one of a tenured Chemistry professor, forced into retirement before he was ready, who then earned a law degree and now enjoys a thriving practice--all at the young age of 80-something!

How do I know it's time for a change?

Bored? Unhappy? Think there must be something better out there for you? Got feedback you need to develop your leadership skills? It's time.

What can I do to ensure I'm on the development fast-track in my company?

Find a mentor. Network internally and externally. Be your very best you. A coach can help you figure out who that is.

Can I afford career guidance?

If you value it enough, you can. Where I live, two cappuccinos a day would more than cover the monthly fee. It's important to understand that coaching pays itself off over time--the skills and knowledge you gain will help you develop professionally. Usually that comes with tangible benefits, such as a higher salary and intangible benefits, such as peace of mind, happiness and the joy of doing something you love.
